Will the Weather Outside be Frightful?

According to all the soothsayer's, Farmer's Almanac et al, winter in 2012 will be challenging. Lower than normal temperatures, increased precipitation means more snow for the most of Canada except for the "wet" coast where it will rain a whole lot more than usual. This will help explain why they invented airplanes and warm sunny resorts in far away places.
