The new Home Adaptions for Independence (HAFI) introduced by the British Columbia Housing Authority in January 2012 is designed to help lower income BC seniors with disabilities make modifications to their homes to enable them to continue living in their homes.
Through the HAFI program, financial assistance of up to $20,000 will be provided to eligible owners or tenants to make their homes more accessible and safe. Eligible improvements include;
- Bathtub grab bars and seats
- Walk-in showers grab bar
- Easy to reach work and storage areas
- Handrails in hallways and stairways
- Ramps for ease of access
- Lever handles on doors
