The Insurance Corporation of BC is now providing residents of BC with a map showing the number of automobile thefts, break ins and vandalism that has occurred during the past four years in your neighbourhood.

In addition the map is interactive and allows you to find out the auto crimes being committed in your area simply by inputting your home address.

According to the figures published today, within 1km of Boundary Park there were 55 auto related crimes reported in 2012. How many auto related crimes that were not reported is unknown, but I am sure there were a few.

The following link illustrates where these crimes took place in Metro Vancouver.

To find out how many auto crimes were committed in your neighbourhood, enter your home address into the inter-active box and chose how big a crime circumference circle from your home you want to display. e.g. 1 km, 2km or 3km.

This is an excellent way to keep the public informed as to what is happening in their neighbourhood. I for one, was surprised to see this number of thefts occurring in the Boundary Park community. I wonder how many of you feel the same way?
