Baby Names
Governments find reasons to intervene

It may still be winter but for anyone living on the west coast of Canada spring is but a few weeks away.
I don't know if it is true but it seems to me that more babies are born in spring than at any other time of the year. With all these babies soon to make their debut on the world stage parents no doubt are working on the names their new arrivals will be given.
Fortunately most parents will use common sense when naming their offspring but there are few parents in our society for whatever reasons fail to apply the common sense rule.
To protect children from a lifetime of embarrassment as the result of been given a controversial or unsuitable name, governments, in some countries, have intervened in the child naming process. The recent article in The Economist magazine details the measures taken to protect children.
