the world economy - Be Afraid

The Scream by Edvard Munch

by Mike Coates

A recent article in The Economist lays the blame for the financial woes of the Euro zone and the United States at the feet of politicians and their demonstrated lack of leadership to get their economic houses in order.

I am not at all surprised at the lack of leadership being shown by politicians who get voted into office not on promises to lead but on promises to follow. To follow the direction of special interest groups; to follow the direction of major campaign contributors, and to follow and support the trends based on the latest voter opinion surveys.

Tough times demand tough decisions that only those with proven leadership skills can deliver. Until these leaders step forward I must concur with the premise that Being Afraid makes perfectly good sense.
